Merylebone Cricket Club, world's active cricket club founded in 1787 is till today considered as the sole authority of cricket around the world. MCC launched the MCC cricket Photographer of the Year in 2010 to promote cricket in all levels. In 2016 the contest had 450 entries from photographers across nations. The contest is open to all photographers, amateur or professional irrespective of their nationality. The entry to the competition is free and only condition is that the photographs must have been taken during the year of competition and should have cricket as the theme.

Prizes :
A shortlist of eleven entries will initially be chosen, from which a winner and two runners-up will be announced.
The top three photographs will feature in the 2018 Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack and all of the shortlisted entries will be exhibited at Lord’s throughout next year in addition to the cash prizes. The Chief Sports Photographer of Sunday Times, Chris Smith along with independent expert judges appointed by Wisden and MCC will select the winning images.
