How Digital Technology has Changed Modern Education

Modern education is a whole different entity to what it was 20 years ago. The ways that students learn new things have changed, and it's all thanks to the improvement and development of modern technology. Most people aren't aware of how digital technology has altered education, and so we're going to look into it here.

How Digital Technology has Changed Modern Education

Online Portals and Platforms

One of the main benefits of the digital age is the rise of online platforms and portals. Look at it like this - why deliver a piece of paper which has your untidy handwriting on it, thus risking being dropped a grade for spelling, when you can submit something typed onto a portal? It's just common sense really, and the applications for this technology don't stop there.

Online portals allow students to remotely access assignments, collect necessary information, and interact with a broad selection of resources. There are so many different options for students to make the most of, it's no wonder learning is so streamlined. According toDr Roy Ale, Marketing Executive for Oxford Summer School, 'you need to take advantage of the modern technology available to you to deliver the best possible education. People will be more engaged if there's something they're passionate about being used as a tool'.

Courses - Not Just For Schools

There's a wealth of ways that people can learn new skills and gain qualifications without having to be at an education facility. The modern age means that getting a degree, for example, is now no longer bound to a university or college. People can study online and at their discretion, and this unlocks a whole new world of opportunity for so many different people; now they can change careers at a later point in life if they want.

Paper's Out

Paper is rapidly becoming a thing of the past and is reserved for only some of the assessments and tests which are done. Nowadays, the bulk of the work is provided and done online. This saves a lot for schools and colleges and also means that it's easier to get something handed into your teacher. Technology has evolved to the point that there's no longer any need for massive stacks of papers and booklets - while it can be useful in specific fields, the majority of subjects will find this method obsolete.

All in all, these are just a few of the different ways in which the modern education system has been shaped by digital technology. As we can see, the numerous advancements made in this field have created a new era for learning. To best prepare our students for the future, we must make sure that we are giving them access to the best possible equipment and resources for this task. Only then can we be sure that they will have a superior education to the children 20 years ago, which gives them the best chance at going on to provide a worthwhile contribution to society.
