Student Art Contest Science Without Borders Challenge - Entries by 20 April 2020

This annual contest aims to inculcate the thought of the necessity to preserve, protect, and restore oceans and aquatic resources of the world. It also plays a beautiful role in enhancing the creativity of students while learning about important ocean science and conservation issues.

The theme

The theme for this year’s contest is Take Action: Conserve Coral Reefs. Coral reefs are both ecologically and economically important ecosystems of oceans. They are hotspots of biodiversity and productivity, accounting for the greatest concentration of species of any marine ecosystem.

Coral reefs are rapidly declining and being endangered by several natural and anthropogenic factors. If no initiatives are taken to conserve them many coral reefs will no longer exist as functioning ecosystems by the end of the century. Students are encouraged to use their artistic talents to create a piece of art that illustrates one or more different actions that can be taken to conserve coral reefs.

The final date to submit the artwork is 20 April 2020.
