Art Contest and Exhibition by Embracing our Differences - 1 April 2021

Embracing our differences uses the power of art and education to expand consciousness and spread open-mindedness to celebrate human diversity through their annual, large-scale, juried art exhibition and a comprehensive series of educational initiatives, programs and resources designed for teachers and students.

Art Contest and Exhibition by Embracing our Differences - 1 April 2021

They hold the pride of hosting over 3,000,000 visitors and 360,000 students since 2004 for a very special opportunity to experience the importance of diversity and inclusion in our lives. The exhibition will feature artwork created by local, national and international artists in 50 billboard-size images measuring 16 feet (5m) width by 12.5 feet (4min) height.

The team invites artists to participate in creating a society where diversity is appreciated and individuality is celebrated.

This year’s theme from Embracing our Differences is "enriching lives through diversity and inclusion".

Key dates and venue

Closing date for submission: 7 October 2020

Date of exhibit: 20 January 2021 – 1 April 2021

Venue: Bayfront Park in downtown Sarasota, Florida

Who can apply?

The exhibit is open to all artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, students — everyone can participate. National and international submissions are encouraged. There is no submission fee.

Submission criteria

  • The submitted artwork must be an original concept and execution. It should not be a copy or reproduction of the work of another.
  • The work must exhibit artistic excellence and originality in reflection of the theme “enriching lives through diversity and inclusion.”
  • The art must be horizontal in orientation which means that it must be wider than it is tall. Submissions that do not meet this requirement will be disqualified.
  • The digital file must be a high resolution image of no less than 300 dpi.
  • The entries must have a brief with a maximum of 200 words titled “Artist Statement” explaining the art, the creative process and/or what the theme means to the artist.

Cash Awards

  • Best-in-Show Adult award - $1000
  • Best-in-Show Student award- $1000
  • People’s Choice award - $1000
