Street art has marched into Indian homes by tranforming the surroundings into art pieces. The railways stations, government buildings, deserted buildings have been transformed into street mural by this art group known as St+art India Foundation. Many art events are hosted in major cities like Kochi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Coimbatore and you can see many indian and international street artists participating in these events. India is used to seeing political symbols on it's public buildings, but now with this street painting, it's a welcome sight for passers-by. The first street painting event was held in 2014 by St+art Foundation in Delhi and ever since it has spread it's branches to other major cities. The first indian street art team consisted of: Hanif Kureshi, Akshat Nauriyal, Arjun Bahl, Thanish Thomas and Giulia Ambrogi and now you have more enthusiastic artists who want to paint the town red.
Mural painting, street painting has been popular since the mughals rule in India, but those paintings are not easily accessible to public. It's a great initiative by the St+art India Foundation to inspire youngsters and those passionate about art to pick up their easels and paint brushes and bring forth their creativity.
