The World Press Photo contest calls for entries - 4 Jan 2018
The World press Photo Foundation organises the prestigious awards in photojournalism which focuses on developing and promoting visual journalism. World Press Photo Foundation is an independent, non-profitable organisation based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The organisation strives to inspire, educate and support visual journalism. The annual photo contest recognises the best single exposure pictures contributing to the past year of visual journalism. The contest is open to all professional visual journalists worldwide.
Timeline :
- 1 December 2017: The contest website opens for entries.
- 4 January 2018: Registration for the contest website closes.
- 9 January 2018: The contest website closes.
- 14 February 2018: Nominees announced.
- 12 - 15 April 2018: All nominees are invited to the World Press Photo Festival in Amsterdam.
- 12 April 2018: Photo of the Year and all contest winners announced at the 2018 Awards Ceremony.
Prize Details :
The award winning photographs go round in International exhibitions to 45 countries and is been viewed by more than 4 million people every year. The winning images are published in the yearbook which is available in multiple languages.
The contest will be judged by a jury of leading photojournalism professionals.
