The prestigious National Geographic Travel Photography contest brings out the spectacular shots of the travel photographers. The competition earlier invited the UK photographers to submit their entries in following six categories - action, nature, people, urban, portfolio and video. The winning shots has been revealed which picturises different places and faces of travel. The winning photos can also be seen in the April issue of National Geographic Traveller (UK), on sale 1 March.
The Striking image of two king penguins touching beaks in South Georgia shot by London based Italian-born photographer Renato Granieri won the grand prize of a six-night wildlife photography tour in eastern Europe. Revealing how he took the shot, he said: 'I was walking through a vast colony of king penguins in South Georgia, looking for inspiration. I decided to focus on intimate behavior, so I sat on the snow and waited patiently'.
The other category winners included Stuart Dunns's sledding dog in 'action', hungry dog poking its nose through a cafe window by John White in 'urban' and the image of an eagle hunter drinking tea by Simon Morris in 'people'.
