Creative and Innovative Australian Product Design online exhibition till16 Aug 2020

The iconic Australian Design has launched a virtual exhibition curated by Ian Wong featuring over 100 products designed in Australia. i-conic is Australia’s premier design centre by Design Tasmania since 1976 planned to promote design in Tasmania by the way of their collection, exhibition and retail space. Design Tasmania is a respected coordinator of fresh Australian design. They motivate creative risk-taking, smooth creation, innovative, creative exhibition of new works, to expand the international and national audience for Tasmanian craft and design, and champion of a tradition of creativity, inclusion and innovation. Design Tasmania is pleased to present ICONIC Australian Design by Ian Wong featuring over 100 products designed in Australia.

Designers working in the field of industrial design develop concepts and specifications aimed at problem solving; far from being a purely aesthetic exercise. They optimize purpose and value to bring innovative products and services into existence. The real challenge is overcoming the innumerable constraints to achieve actually getting something into the market. The designs and designers represented in ICONIC have mastered this crucial balance, elevating them to this exceptional status.

The objects featured in the exhibition are mostly from The Ian Wong Collection and were recently featured in 100 Objects - Australian Design in the Home commissioned by the Robin Boyd Foundation at Robin Boyd’s Walsh Street House. The Tasmanian presentation will incorporate additionally sourced design objects from local design icons as well.
