Student Photographer of the Year 2016 - Photography contest to win exciting prizes

On the occasion of the World Photo Day which falls on August 19, Calumet, a photo retailer has launched a photo competition for student photographers. This is an excellent opportunity for budding photographers to exhibit their talents to the world of photography. There will be a host of major photographic brands and professional photography magazines along with Calumet. Student photographers who are passionate about photography are supported by Calumet to bring out their photographic abilities.The winner will receive wonderful prizes worth over £11,000 and of-course a national audience to showcase their talents. There will be prizes awarded to 10 runners - up who will receive £20 Calumet Gift Card and a year's subscription to Professional Photography magazine. Calumet Photographic managing director, Jon Warner said: ‘The Student Photographer of the Year Competition 2016 is an opportunity for students to showcase their talents to a national audience as well as winning an impressive bundle of prizes, including £4,250 worth of Canon vouchers.’

HOW TO ENTER:

All students are invited to submit a single photo of their best work along with up to 20 words explaining their chosen image. Members of the Calumet Student Membership scheme, which costs just £25 to join and includes £150 worth free gifts, can submit an additional two photos by emailing student@calphoto.co.uk. Please include your membership number in your email. Your photo(s) should preferably be in .jpg format however .tiff, .bmp and .png will also be accepted. Please ensure your image is no larger than 2MB in size. The closing date for entries is Friday 14 October 2016.

The most commonly used Louis Daguerre’s 'daguerreotype process' in photography was introduced world wide on this particular day in 1839 . To mark this historical day the photography contest is organised on this date. Photographers can share their images in an online gallery on world photo day. Students can submit single photograph with 20 words explaining their chosen image. Calumet student membership scheme members can submit an additional two photos.
