To produce The Adventures of Figaro Pho, Ambience Entertainment used Maya for 3D, Nuke for compositing and mental ray for rendering.
About the Adventures of Figaro Pho: The Adventures of Figaro Pho is a series about a warm-hearted, adorable, quirky and mischievous character … who just happens to be afflicted with every phobia imaginable. He's afraid of vampires, toilets, mad dogs, aliens, and even being stared at by a duck! He's also petrified of being alone, and so Figaro has created a mechanical companion – a dog-like robot he calls Rivet. Figaro and Rivet live in a rundown Gothic-style mansion built precariously on a cliff above the small town of Cogville. Figaro's crumbling house is effectively a death trap containing thousands of things that he fears, and unfortunately the outside world is even more terrifying to poor Figaro. The outside world insists on knocking on Figaro's door, bringing all sorts of new characters and phobias into Figaro's life. On the odd occasion when Figaro finds the courage to venture down into the town, his phobias escalate even further. New faces and new places mean new fears!
Boris: Boris is Figaro's gardener and handyman. He's a hulk of a man and he doesn't say much. In fact his vocabulary is limited to grunts and snorts, though these convey great meaning. Boris is blessed with a green thumb and can make anything grow. However his life is blighted by a terrible curse – body odour of the vilest kind. So powerful is this stench that it almost exists on its own.
Rivet: Rivet is Figaro's mechanical dog, created as a result of Figaro's fear of isolation. He has become Figaro's best friend and more often than not needs to save his fearful master from tricky situations. The robotic Rivet has a panel on his back, from which all manner of tools and devices can appear, turning the tin terrier into what is essentially a Swiss army knife of a dog.
Figaro: Figaro Pho is a wonderfully eccentric character. He is warmhearted, curious and imaginative but is afflicted with a daunting array of phobias that constantly bring terror to his quiet life. Figaro imagines himself as tough, romantic, handsome and fearless. In reality, the complete opposite is true – except the part about him being romantic, for Figaro is deeply sensitive. We don't know how old Figaro is. We only know that he stopped aging thanks to the fear of growing old - and that's just another of his many fears. We do know that Figaro is extraordinarily creative. He is a talented painter and an engineering genius.
Dotty: Dotty is the shortsighted old lady who runs the corner store – but her kindly, grandmotherly exterior hides the penny-pinching heart of a miser. To supplement her income, Dotty fulfills a number of other important functions in the town. She is its doctor, dentist and veterinarian. All her qualifications were procured from an obscure university –by mail.
Juliet: Figaro's next-door neighbor Juliet is the loveliest girl in town. She often hangs out on her balcony, directly opposite Figaro's mansion. The moment Figaro laid eyes on Juliet he fell in love, but Figaro's collection of phobias make it almost impossible for him to be near her. Instead he looks at her through his telescope and dreams of better times. Most of the time, Juliet is completely oblivious to Figaro's existence.
