Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2021 - Photography Contest entries by 30 April 2021

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, founded in 1965, is an annual international showcase of the best nature photography. The contest is developed and produced by the Natural History Museum, London. The competition gives away prizes worth £18000 every year. The 56th Annual competition attracted more than 49,000 entries from around the world. With the successful announcement of winners, the competition for Wildlife Photographer of the year 2021 is now open.

The owners and sponsors have once again been kind enough to share the following winning and commended images from this year’s competition. The museum’s website has images from previous years and more information about the current contest and exhibition. Here are a few images to inspire you.

Closed for entries: 30 April 2021

Eligibility

The following individuals are not eligible to enter the Competition:

  • Employees of Nikon Instruments Inc., Shaw & Todd, Inc., their respective parent companies and affiliated companies, and/or the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee,
  • The Competition Judges, regardless of the date of appointment, and/or their immediate family and household members, and/or
  • Individuals engaged (as a business owner or employee) in the manufacture, distribution and/or sale of microscopes, related accessories and/or photographic equipment. Participation in the competition and the receipt of any prize may prize be restricted or void where prohibited.

Instructions for submission

  • Participation in this Competition constitutes the entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor and/or Administrator’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to this Competition.
  • Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
  • Upload up to three photographic digital images taken by the Entrant to the Entry Form.
  • Entries submitted to Nikon are then judged by an independent panel of experts who are recognized authorities in the area of photomicrography and photography.
  • These entries are judged on the basis of originality, informational content, technical proficiency and visual impact.
  • Winners are solely responsible for any and/or all taxes and fees of any kind associated with the receipt and/or use of any and all Prizes.

Rewards

  • Wildlife Photographer of the Year - £10,000, trophy and personalised certificate
  • Portfolio Award - £2,500 and personalised certificate with trip to London to attend the awards ceremony
  • Photojournalist Story Award - £2,500 and personalised certificate with trip to London to attend the awards ceremony
  • Rising Star Portfolio Award - £1,500 and personalised certificate with a trip to London to attend the awards ceremony
  • Adult category Winners - £1,250 and personalised certificate with trip to London to attend the awards ceremonyAdult category highly commended - personalised certificate with invitation to the awards ceremony in London
