According to Nalin Singh, Managing director, India Tales Media, "Manikantan will be released simultaneously in five Indian languages - Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. Actors like Mohanlal, Sukumari, Jagathi Sreekumar and Ganesh have dubbed for the Malayalam version and efforts are on to get top stars for other languages."
Reji Syne from Kerala is directing the movie, while Illayaraja has scored the music. About 800 people are working on the project in different areas including 200 artists, who have come up with 88,000 Indian paintings for use in the movie.
Singh said that his core team of 25 animators is working on creating a distinct Indian style for the movie by incorporating 11 animation styles. These include 2D, 3D, Toymation, Claymation, UMotion, Indian mural art, Kerala mural art and Indian oil paintings.
So far, the Indian animation industry has mostly focused on backend work for overseas studios. After the success of Sahara's Hanuman a few years back, there has been a lot of interest generated to make such movies.
