Yayoi Kusama's journey of art work began with polka dots and nets as motifs at around the age of ten.Throughout her career she has worked in a wide variety of media, including painting, collage, soft sculpture, performance art, and environmental installations, most of which exhibit her thematic interest in psychedelic colors, repetition, and pattern.Yayoi's work is based on conceptual art and particularly deals with feminism,surrealism,art brut,pop art and abstract expressionism. She is also a noted novelist and poet.
